How to Stay Cool on a Blazing Temperature and Weather

Summer is the season where temperature surges to the top of the scale. When temperatures reach almost 90 degrees, experts warn people to practice preventive measures against heat-related ailments and whatnot. Statistically, reports from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries reveal 230 heat-related deaths from 2003-2009.

With summer’s heat possible to soar greater heights, below are tips to keep you cool and safe at the same time.

– Avoid drinking beverages with too much caffeine or alcohol. Even if you don’t feel too thirsty, always stay hydrated by taking in plentiful amount of fluid.

– Don’t wear tight-fitting and dark-colored clothes for they are good absorbents of the sun’s heat. Loose, light-colored, and lightweight clothes are ideal for the summer.

– Refrain from engaging in strenuous activities during the afternoon when it’s the hottest part of the day. Stay indoors, instead.

– If you work outdoors and are exposed to the sun’s heat, taking frequent breaks will do the trick.
