Improvement Measures for a Winter-Ready Home

When it comes to dealing with common winter weather issues, such as extreme cold and water leaks, it is important to first determine the source of the problem. Once you’ve done this, it can be easier to find cost-efficient ways of solving them.
Jennifer Douglas was one of the three lucky Herald on Sunday readers who won $5000 to make her home winter-ready. Here are the improvements that her home underwent:

  • Swap inefficient incandescent light bulbs with energy-efficient LED lights
  • Replace the unflued gas heater with a heat pump
  • Install externally venting extraction fans
  • Fix door and window seals and droughts
