More Storms and More Heat According to WMO

According to the World Meteorological Organization, our planet has experienced extraordinary high-impact climate extremes for the last ten years starting 2001.

Studies showed that the last decade was the warmest for both hemispheres including land and ocean surface temperatures.  As a matter of fact, over 370,000 died during the last ten years because of extreme weather and climate conditions like drought, cold, heat, storms, and floods according to the data obtained from the Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters.

However the WMO states that there was a 16% decline in the deaths due to storms and 43% from floods because of better early warning systems and increased awareness.
