Should You Invest in a New HVAC System?

An HVAC system is an investment to ensure that you are comfortable in your home during every season. It runs the heat and the air conditioning of your home in Martinez, GA, while also maintaining good air quality so you can breathe healthy air in your home. Take note of the signs below and replace your HVAC system as needed to ensure a comfortable summer.

Consider the Age of Your HVAC System

HVAC systems typically last up to 15 years, but this is dependent upon your specific system and the maintenance that you have performed on it. The more aged your system has become, the more repairs that are possible. Repairs may end up costing you more than a new installation.

Continuing HVAC System Repairs

You will notice that your HVAC system is starting to go bad if it continually needs repair. You may install new parts on your air conditioning system, but these parts will add up over time. Repairs will become more costly, and you may pay over 50% of what you would pay for a new unit.

You will notice very quickly that cold air or warm air is not circulating properly in your home, indicating the need for repairs. You will feel uncomfortable in your home, and repairs will only be a short-term fix for this living environment.

Loud Noises

You will hear loud grinding and squealing if certain parts are starting to go bad, such as motors. You will hear rattling if there are loose parts. Hearing banging sounds means that something has disconnected, which could cause greater problems if left alone.

A well-working HVAC system will typically run quietly without excess noise. A noisy system is an indicator that something is wrong. When this is the case, you need to invest in a new HVAC unit for your home.

Large Electric Bills

You will notice your energy bills may increase when your HVAC system needs replacement. Energy bills increase because your system is working harder to maintain a comfortable temperature. This additional strain may be the cause of increased repairs that would indicate a new system is a better investment than a repair.

It is possible that an increased electric bill may mean that you only need HVAC maintenance from one of our professionals. You may simply need a tune-up. If this does not work, however, and your energy costs continue to increase, you may need a new unit.

Unstable Temperatures

You will notice that your home is not keeping you comfortable as you had hoped that it would. Your home may not be as cool as you want it to be in the summer; and in the winter, your home may not be as warm as you’d like it to be. This means that your HVAC system is not working up to par as it should.

You may also notice inconsistencies in your home’s temperatures. Some of the rooms in your home may be the correct temperatures, whereas others are too hot or too cold.

Air Quality Problems

You will also notice a negative air quality in your home if your HVAC system is starting to go bad. Your home may feel more humid in the summer or the air may not be circulating properly.

You may notice excess dust and dirt in your home if your HVAC system is starting to go as well. This can be an indication of a filter that needs to be changed or that there is a breech in your duct system allowing dust to enter your ductwork from the attic.
