Another way that can help you save on heating and air costs is by installing shrink film over your windows. This will help to keep heat from being lost during the winter months. You can normally find window insulation kits in stock at your local home supply and hardware stores. For approximately the dollars you can get a kit that will usually insulate 5 standard sized windows. You will be amazed at how much this little project can save and at how much warmer your living area will be as well.

A very important yet sometimes overlooked and underestimated way to save money and energy is by simply changing your air conditioning filters on a regular basis. Air conditioning filters become clogged with dust, pollens, animal dander and debris which keep the air from circulating effectively. Just by changing your system’s filters regularly can keep your system operating smoother and more efficiently.

One last cheap way to save money is by putting weather stripping around windows and doors where heat or cool air can escape. Not only will you get rid of those unwanted drafts, but you will save money and energy a well.

So, you see, making your home more energy efficient does not mean you have to break the bank. There are a few cheap ways that can help you make your home more energy efficient and help you save money in the long run.
