Costs of AC Repairs Rising

The bills of AC repairs are rising as a result of several factors, mainly increasing costs and newly introduced federal regulations. The two main reasons that are specifically given why the rise is being experienced right now – air conditioning unit costs and shortage of coolant used for the AC units.

Ron Martin, with Expert Advice said about the coolant that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been phasing out, “It’s damaging to the ozone so they’re trying to use a more friendly gas out there that protects our ozone layer on the Earth’s atmosphere”.

About the doubling costs of AC units, Martin has this to say, “In an air conditioner, you have copper, steel, aluminum, and brass. It’s like buying a commodity these days so the price has gone crazy”.

One key to extending the life span of an AC unit is by having it serviced twice a year. It is a mistake to have it serviced only when it is already broken and needs to be fixed, which limits its longevity.
