Exercise and Cold Weather: Staying Safe Outdoors

On cold weathers, even the most motivated exercisers often get discouraged. Fortunately, there are ways to keep yourself safe and warm while exercising outdoors in the cold weather.

You don’t need to let the cold weather spell the end of your workout routine – follow some tips for exercising during cold weather and stay fit, motivated, and warm all throughout the day – one of these tips is layering up.

Dress in layers that you could easily remove as soon as you start sweating and then put them back on as needed. The first type of clothing you need to put on is that made of synthetic material like polypropylene.

Next, add a layer of fleece or wool for insulation and top it with a waterproof, breathable outer layer. You may need to experiment before you can find the right combination of clothing that works well for you depending on your exercise intensity.

When it’s cold try wearing a pair of thin gloves under a pair of heavier gloves or mittens that are lined with wool or fleece.
