Expert Tips on Staying Cool and Conserving Energy during Summer

This year’s summertime has recorded amongst the highest temperatures in history. These days, people are more prone to acquiring heat-related ailments, like heat stroke, because of the burning temperature. Electrical bills have soared this summer season because people are finding ways to cope up with the heat wave. Below are expert tips to save energy and stay cool.

a. Keep the heat outside and the cool inside – Prevent sunlight from bringing unwanted heat to your home by using shades, drapes, and blinds to block the sun. Most homes will be cooler if windows are closed during the afternoons, when temperature’s at its hottest.

b. Place air conditioners on the cooler parts of the house – AC units run efficiently when kept in a cool place and out of the sun’s reach. Ideally, install one in the northern part of the house. You will save more energy with an Energy Star labeled unit.

c. Raising the bars high lowers billing – Keeping the AC thermostats at a moderate setting saves money and energy. This happens because AC units remove air humidity, keeping the place cool even with higher settings.
