Keep Yourself Safe and Warm After an Ice Storm

Heavy winter storms and winds bring down power lines, trees, and cables. When this happens, power outages that pose dangers arise. Hence, it is vital that you know how to be safe and warm even after an ice storm.

  • Lookout for any knocked down power lines and electrical cables. Also, be kind enough to advise others to stay out of harm’s way. When you come across any downed power lines, treat each as live and perilous.
  • If you are at home with children or elderly, make sure to dress warmly. Close any unused rooms, stuff towels underneath doors to keep warm air from flowing out. Cover windows as well.
  • If your house has no access to electricity, try to stay temporarily at a place where it is available.
