Preparation and Planning for Extreme Weather

Natural calamities can go berserk at some points that they can lead to serious dangers and risks for our well-being and safety. Worst storms can have high wind pressures and speeds that they are able to destroy various buildings and properties in a single blast.

According to experts, we can do various things to increase our chances of safety – inside and outside the house. Firstly, informing each of the household members of an extreme weather safety plan is necessary. Make sure that each one knows what to do when an alarm or siren sounds. This can imply finding refuge in the basement or a trusted neighbor’s property.

When indoors, do not stay close to windows. These things can easily shatter and the broken glass, metal, and wood pieces are perilous projectiles, especially during an extreme storm. Furthermore, prepare 3 days’ worth of water supplies – one gallon for every person per day. Pack non-perishable foods that can last for 3 days; and secure a first aid kit as well.
