Staying Cool During a Heat Wave

We often hear people say not to use fans as they circulate warm air and increase the temperature. However, contrary to this belief, a study shows that fans can actually help in cooling one’s body.

In a recent study, electric fans were found to prevent core body temperature and heat-related elevations in heart rate up to approximately 80 percent relative humidity at 36 degrees Celcius. The study demonstrated that fans may be effective cooling devices especially for those without air conditioning units during hot and humid periods.
